Section VIII  Athletics has approved the Fall 2025 high school & modified (middle school) athletic starting dates. While starting times and locations will be determined later, please plan accordingly as we expect any athlete interested in trying out for a fall sport to be approved and in attendance on the start date listed below.

• Registration for Hewlett High School Fall sports will open on August 1, 2025 and close August 15, 2025.
• Registration for Woodmere Middle School Fall sports will open on August 5, 2025 and close on August 25, 2025.
• For those families in need of a sports physical, our school doctor will be offering sports physicals to our students on August 6 and August 20 from 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM. at Hewlett High School. Sports physicals are by appointment only on a first come first serve basis. 

Anyone interested must sign up on Family ID. 

• The August 6 sports physical registration will open on July 7. 
• The August 20 sports physical registration will open on July 28.

For our teams to be prepared, we expect all student athletes to be registered, approved, and attend on the first day of tryouts/practices. 

Student athletes are also expected to attend practices and contests throughout the season, including recess/vacation periods.

All Sports Physicals must be completed, dated, signed, and stamped by your doctor on the official New York State Physical Form within one year from the starting date of the desired sport (see www.hwbulldogs.com for sample).  All physical examinations for school are to be documented on the NYS Required Health Examination Form. No other physical examination form will be accepted. Physical forms must be filled in completely and cannot include “see attached.” Only immunization records may be attached to physical forms.  The examination form needs to indicate that the student athlete can participate in all activities without restriction including the cardiac history review. The health examination for qualifying a student's participation in athletics is valid for a period of 12 continuous months - through the last day of the month in which the exam was conducted; and through the entire sports season, even if the exam’s expiration is before the season is completed.
